Processes
The quality process ability of SKYi’s biopolymers is a special characteristic when compared to other bioplastics. Whether you are seeking high throughput in extrusion or ease of demoulding with injection molding: the process ability is always one of our main focuses when developing resins while maintaining the bio-character of the materials.
We would be pleased to show you the various solutions that are possible with our biopolymers.
3D Printing
SKYi biopolymers have high dimensional stability and flexibility with low processing temperatures in 3D printing. Below you can see which of our bio-based and biodegradable polymers are suitable for processing into 3D printing filaments.
Blow Moulding
We offer bio-based biocompostable grades for the production of bottles and containers for sectors such as beverage, cosmetics or hygiene. Grades have higher content of natural resource material and a considerably higher tensile strength.
Film Extrusion
We offer a variety of polymers for the production of blown film. These can be biodegradable or purely bio-based. In case you prefer a biodegradable solution, we recommend the use of our Bio-Flex® resins. Films made from our new Bio-Flex® FX grade can be extruded even thinner with the same strength. For pure bio-based solutions we offer different Green PE (LLDPE, LDPE and HDPE) and various Terralene® grades. Below you can see which of our bio-based and biodegradable plastics are suitable for processing into blown film.
Extrusion Coating
There are different options to coat paper or plastics, either a bond of paper with a biodegradable resin such as e. g. Bio-Flex® or the use of a bio-based Green PE. Below you can see which of our bio-based and biodegradable plastics are suitable for processing in extrusion coating. Bio-Flex® F 2110 is similar to HDPE in terms of mechanical properties and feel. It is distinguished by a pearlescent gloss, high translucency and balanced mechanical properties of extensibility and stiffness.
Lamination
For the production of film laminates, we offer various bio-based and biodegradable solutions. In our portfolio we have bio-based polyamides as well as a partially bio-based PET for the production of barrier films. Various Green PE (LLDP, LD and HD) and Bio-Flex® grades are also available.
Sheet Extrusion
For the production of sheets we have a wide range of granulates to choose from. For applications that are biodegradable, you can rely on e. g. our Bio-Flex® grades. For purely bio-biased solutions, Green PE or a partially bio-based PET can be used. Below you can see which of our bio-based and biodegradable plastics are suitable for processing in sheet extrusion.
Profile Extrusion
For profile extrusion, you can choose from a range of bio-based and biodegradable polymers. If you want to produce a surface with a wooden look, we recommend the use of our Fibrolon® and Terralene® WF grades. You can achieve a particularly smooth surface with our Bio-Flex® grades. Here is a list of the grades which are suitable for the production of profiles.
Injection Blow Moulding
We offer you a partially bio-based PET for the production of preforms by injection blow moulding. This resin is characterized by its high transparency and can be processed like conventional PET. As a “drop-in” solution, our partially bio-based PET can be recycled together with petroleum-based PET in one material stream.
Injection Moulding
Within our broad product portfolio, we have a variety of bio-based and biodegradable resins which are suitable for injection moulding. These range from bio-based Green PE, partially bio-based PP compounds, cellulose-based Biograde® resins, or Bio-Flex® PLA-based blends.
Thermoforming
For the thermoforming of trays or blisters e. g, we offer various highly transparent plastics. These include a partially bio-based PET as well as a biodegradable PLA. Furthermore, within our Bio-Flex® range, we offer products which are heat-resistant when processed accordingly. Below you can see which of our bio-based and biodegradable plastics are suitable for processing in cast sheet extrusion and subsequent thermoforming.
